The task and mission of the Japan Daily Press is to engage Asia and the World with a never-ceasing flow of news and editorials on various facets of Japan. We plan to keep our readers up-to-date on Japanese politics, economy, society, and culture with our daily news. We also offer our critical and more in-depth engagement on a range of contemporary issues through weekly editorials.
While all our contributors will either be Japanese or resident foreigners, we sincerely welcome your opinions and responses on our site. Your views and inquires will continue to shape our approaches and reports. Together we can have a better vision of the contemporary Japan.

Dr. Yoshiyuki Kato Ph.D – Executive Editor
Yoshiyuki Kato has studied political philosophy and music at the University of North Texas & earned his Ph.D degree in the history of religious thought at Princeton Seminary. He has worked in the nonprofit sector & currently is an associate professor at Tokyo Christian University. His hobby is cooking, reading, and playing music.
Adam Westlake – Managing Editor
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Adam Westlake earned his degree in International Studies with a focus on East Asia and studied Japanese literature, art, religion, and language. He now lives in Nagoya, Japan with his wife and their cat. In addition to most things Japanese, he loves photography, video games, his wife’s cooking, and complaining about how hot the summer is.

Cynthia Ruble – Contributing Columnist
Cynthia worked in marketing and advertising in Atlanta for 10 years where she was a V.P. at one of the largest ad agencies in the city. She moved to Japan in 2000 and taught at Japanese universities here until 2010. She also founded Life Hope Network. She received an undergraduate degree from the School of Journalism at the University of Georgia, an M.S. in Marketing from Georgia State University.
