The Kanagawa Prefectural police are questioning a babysitter over the mysterious death of a 2-year-old boy who was under his care. The body of the boy was found in an apartment building unit in Fujimi, Saitama Prefecture on Monday morning.
The babysitter was hired by the boy’s mother through an online broker website and the apartment is believed to be used by the young man when taking care of children. Police started looking for the boy when his mother, who is also in her 20s and a resident of Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, said that her children, the boy and an 8-month-old baby boy were missing. She told police that she left the two children with a different man who then handed the children to the babysitter for three days starting on Friday, but when she was going to pick them up on Sunday, she was unable to get in touch with him already.
The police found the babysitter near the apartment building but he refused to speak with them about the whereabouts of the children, forcing them to enter the residence, where they found the boy’s dead body, with the baby nearby, crying but seemingly unharmed. The relation between the man and the babysitter is still unclear at this time as the police continue to investigate the matter.
