Chinese military officer warns Australia about siding with Japan in disputes

Senior Colonel Liu Mingfu of the National Defence University has given Australia a stern warning to not side with the “global tiger” (United States) or the “Asian wolf” (Japan) lest it be caught in the middle of the rising tensions over the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands. He claims that China is a peaceful nation but will fight back if pushed.

Colonel Liu claims that he does not speak in behalf of the leadership of the Chinese leadership, but he is one of the outspoken hawkish People’s Liberation Army (PLA) leaders who are given free reign to speak on certain issues. When asked about the capability of China to fight back, he said that they house strategic missile and nuclear arsenal. While he’s not calling on China to use a nuclear attack, he says there are some scenarios that might justify it. ‘‘If this Japanese wolf again attacks America’s Pearl Harbour or Australia’s Darwin, how do you know it wouldn’t receive another nuclear bomb?’’ Colonel Liu said.

He is calling on Australia to remain a ‘‘kind-hearted lamb” and asked that the message be delivered directly to Prime Minister Julia Gillard as she prepares a major speech on national security. Colonel Liu also claims that the United States’ power is already waning and is trying to build “a mini-NATO” to contain the threat of China. A consultant to the US Pentagon and author of The Rise of China Versus The Logic of Containment, Edward Luttwak believes that China is “grossly overestimating” its military might and underestimating the response of its neighbours to its perceived threat.

When army starts making political statement, that’s when you know it is the start of the end for China. I cannot wait for this corrupt Chinese Government to get a good lesson, and then the sovereign Chinse people will be rid of this Government and enjoy better future.

No, this is the fore-coming of what the actual China would actually be doing when President-in-waiting took over. Please take this threat very seriously.

Remember – a single strike by a nuclear DH-10 from a Chinese 052D destroyer can incinerate the WHOLE OF TOKYO including hawkish Abe. Remember what your mum told you when you were small – “Do not play with fire!”

    • Far East

Yes, and the minute this corrupt Chinese Government does this, it will get nuked severely in return…. Surely that will get them very far !
All muscles and no brain, that’s what define the Chinese military.

China talk about war like it is game, like they are children. I can not belive how immature and ignorant they are. They think they can buy and demand respect. International respect is earned though being a leader in goodwill, humanitarian deeds, promoting science and health …. what does China do with their new wealth ? Bully their neighbors, make condescending demands, poison the environment and threaten war… I truly can not see a communist country like China existing in a global society .. they are just look inbred.

And how did we get to this point? It is China that has trespassed on Japan’s territory by sending ships and planes around the islands. Japan is merely trying to defend its territory while using great restraint. But if you have a mosquito flying around your head, as much as you try to ignore it, you might end up swatting it by instinct. I’m just afraid a regretful accident is going to occur. No one should be hoping for a confrontation. It’s like high school kids who love to see others beating each other up. Anyone who loves to see others fight, should try fighting themselves: join an army, eat rations, engage in battle, and prepare to spend the rest of your life as a paraplegic in therapy fighting post-traumatic stress.

How paternalistic! Is this colonel going to send Australia straight to the principal’s office if they don’t heed his “stern warnings” to “act like a lamb.” How is it that the military can make “unofficial” threats like this anyway? If Japan is the Asian wolf, as he puts it; then maybe China is the Asian wolf in Sheep’s clothing!

      LOL :-)

At China Energy Fund Committee forum in Hong Kong, former Parliamentary Vice Foreign Minister Takujiro Hamada made an excellent statement about this kind of China’s behavior regarding the Senkaku :

“You are now asserting the claim by force. One must say that the act alone is breaching the rule of international order,” he said. “I should like to ask you: Is this a China you want to show to the world? Is this a China that your children will be proud of?

“My message to the Chinese is that now it is time for you to be content about who you are and what you have accomplished. Now it is time for you to be a good neighbor of Japan, a good neighbor to the Philippines and a good neighbor to Vietnam,” he said, alluding to China’s territorial disputes in the South China Sea.

“Use of force and intimidation will buy you no good will from your neighbor or that of the international community. You will be a superpower — much feared but not much liked.”

Nothing more to say. Well said !
