The system allows fans to same day access to original broadcasts of hit anime shows.
The leading anime and Asian drama streaming service takes credit for being the first startup to launch this unique app. They boast of 8 million registered users worldwide, and with viewership tastes moving beyond Pokémon, Princess Mononoke and Yu-Gi-Oh; this seems a step in the right direction.
With this new service, anime fans in the U.S. and Canada can watch the latest episodes with English subtitles, minutes after they air in Japan. The lineup includes hits like Naruto Shippuden, Fairy Tail, Space Brothers, and Hunter X Hunter. According to Kun Gao, the founder and CEO of Crunchyroll, the strong crossover between anime and gaming has encouraged them to launch this app. For the moment Crunchyroll viewers can watch the latest episodes direct from Asia and watch seamlessly online, without fee. Registered users can further get involved with the content through casual gaming, social, and device touch points.
