Japan is known to be very liberal about smoking laws and it is generally acceptable for people to smoke in public places. With an effort to make it a novel and sexy experience, the team behind the Smoke Friends House have introduced the first “Shag Bar’. Before you think otherwise, let me clarify that shag is the tradition of hand rolling tobacco.
The trendy cigarette bar opened earlier this month and has been the hotspot of Shibuya ever since. You can walk in to learn about the different flavors of tobacco and get one rolled up by the sexy hostess. She will educate you on the simple nuances of cigarette rolling and refine your knowledge on smoking cultures.
Apparently the ‘shag’ is a living thing and requires a regulated environment to stay fresh, tasty and aromatic. So the temperature and humidity of the shop is very controlled. You can sample flavors like vanilla, mint, apple, mango and raspberry; the spread is completely natural so they emit less smoke than normal cigarettes.
