March 14 is a pretty special day for two reasons: it’s Pi Day, where people “celebrate” the mathematical constant and in Japan, it’s also White Day, where men who received gifts from their partners during Valentine’s Day have to reciprocate. Now Japanese jewelry retailer Brilliance + is mixing the two together with its “Propose with Pi” campaign.
Their suggestion is that men express their undying love for their lady loves with a 0.314-carat diamond ring. They’re not called Brilliance for nothing after all. Men need only shell out between $570-$1350 for these beautiful rings and in return, they may actually receive their women’s eternal love. To drive home their message further, Brilliance + held a bridal fair to help promote these “pi rings” and even offered free engravings, just to make sure that the man was giving the right ring to the right girl (we kid of course. We all know that guys who give diamonds to their girls are usually one-woman men right? Wink wink)
But for those who think their ladies would prefer sweet somethings rather than expensive jewellery, there’s always the option to give them a gummy replica of yourself. Fab Cafe first gave women the chance to make 3D chocolate replicas of themselves for their men on Valentine’s Day. For White Day, men reciprocated with 3D gummy replicas of themselves as a sign of their undying devotion, or only until they were consumed by their lady loves. Say it with diamonds or with gummies, we just hope you remembered to say (give) something at all, or say goodbye to your Valentine’s Day next year.
