Police in Chiba Prefecture stated today that an unknown man knocked a high school girl to the ground, and then proceeded to steal one of her socks right off her foot. The 16 year old girl was simply walking home from school in the city of Ichihara on Thursday, at around 5:30 PM. Just as worse is that he only stole one, leaving her with one perfectly good sock and no match to go with it anymore!
The girl told police that the man came out of nowhere, grabbed her ankle and then forced her onto the ground. He quickly yanked her shoe off and then managed to pull off her left sock before fleeing the scene on foot. Police say the girl wasn’t injured, and that she had never seen the “attacker” before. He was said to be in his 30s, wearing a black jacket, and around 160 centimeters (5 feet, 3 inches) tall.
Oddly enough, there have been a total of three other incidents since September reported where high school girls had their socks forcibly stolen while they walked home. The police commented that they believe this week’s attack “may” be connected with the three others. One would certainly hope so, otherwise Chiba Prefecture is facing a dangerous high-school-girl-sock-stealing crime wave.
