The body of a suspect in a woman’s murder was found dead in a minivan in Kanuma, Tochigi Prefecture last Friday. The police have been looking for the man, whom they choose not to identify, for questioning over a woman who was found dead in a car in a supermarket in Tateyabashi, Gunma Prefecture last Wednesday.
A passerby saw the man slumped over the steering wheel of his minivan with blood running from his head and immediately contacted the police. Authorities who responded to the call said they found the vehicle in a hidden area at around 9:30 in the morning. Checking the vehicle, they found that the doors were locked and the man had a gunshot wound to his head with a gun lying on the passenger seat. Initial investigations show that a witness had seen the car in the same spot the day before, at around 4:00 in the afternoon with the driver smoking a cigarette.
The man is wanted by the police for questioning over the death of his former girlfriend, Chihiro Suzuki, who was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon. Suzuki had filed a report against her former boyfriend last year for domestic violence. Police from Tochigi Prefecture had taken the man into custody prior to the murder, but he was released after paying a fine and being warned to stay away from Suzuki. The woman was also advised to move from her current home at that time, which she did. However, the man was still able to find her.
