Mr Kanso’s Canned Food Restaurant is coming to town

Mr Kanso’s Canned Food Restaurant is coming to town

Osaka’s treasure is soon going to be available at a street near you, the specialty restaurant Kanso, famous for its unique food concept, will be widening its network and coming to your neighborhood this year. What makes Kanso special is its unique approach towards food. The place is lined with shelves upon shelves, stocked with canned food from around the globe. Right from the bear curry from Hokkaido to French salad in a tin, the eatery boasts of a 300-dishes variety and all of it canned!

My height of excitement was when I tried smoked oysters in a can and that too from the US. So finding a spot that boasts of an extensive menu, right here in Nagoya sounds like fun. The owner and operator of Kanso, restaurant and cafe design company Clean Brothers have proposed a goal of opening up 15 branches within this fiscal year. This includes 6 new outlets in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

On the business angle of things, opening a franchisee outlet of Mr Kanso is a reasonable-risk venture. No active kitchen is involved and the initial investment is only 3 million yen (about $38,000 US). You don’t need culinary experts; just someone who can read the expiry date on the cans and ensure they hit the bin when they’ve lived their life. So much so for the humble can of chicken soup on my kitchen shefl!
