While role-playing games (RPGs) from Japan are very exciting based on the public’s reception of the Final Fantasy series, Xenoblade Chronicles and Chrono Trigger, it can be quite confusing and frustrating to play if it is in the Japanese language. But international gamers need not fret anymore as a new game called Koe, which is trying to get crowd-funding in Kickstarter will teach you the language while you play.
Created by Jitesh Rawal, the video game will help you get started on learning the language as words are taught to gamers with the use of items or weapons during battle. The weapons will be introduced in the Japanese language and the gamer may use it as a weapon against their enemies. Played like a traditional RPG, the game begins with choosing a character, either a boy or girl before being sent on an adventure in Japan which begins at an unexpected place: the airport. While the setting of the game is in something very familiar to most travelers, “this place isn’t what you expected it to be,” according to Rawal. “Shortly after arriving, you’ll be sent in to a world of castles, cities and dungeons, while making friends and companions along the way,” he added.
The farther one gets in the game, the more Japanese words are introduced and taught. So if you’re looking for a cheap way to learn the Japanese language while having fun at the same time, you can head to their Kickstarter page and help the game get finished and marketed.
