Arguably the world’s current biggest music sensation One Direction finally wrapped up months of shows around the world for their “Take Me Home” 2013 world tour with two massively sold-out shows at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo. In front of thousands of cheering fans, the British boy band also went to an event in Chiba to promote their documentary film “One Direction: This Is Us.”
The boys and another pop music sensation Katy Perry performed on Friday on one of Japan’s most popular music programs, “Music Station”. Katy and one of the members, Niall Horan, even sparked a mild furor on Twitter when he tweeted out a “fake engagement” picture of him and the American songstress, saying “She said yes!” backstage at the Japanese show. Of course, it was all for jokes as Katy brought along her boyfriend musician John Mayer, who also gamely posed with the boys.
The five young men are used to screaming girls going crazy over them all over the world, but their most popular (well, if the Internet is to be believed) member Harry Styles reportedly seemed a bit overwhelmed when he was mobbed by surprised mobile-phone toting fangirls when he visited the discount store Don Quijote store in Roppongi. After their last show in Tokyo on November 3, Harry tweeted out, ‘So that’s it’ to his 17.3 million followers.
