Maya Nakanishi, the 27-year-old sprinter has found an innovative way to raise funds for this year’s Paralympic games. A strong contender for the medals, Nakanishi had to opt out of the 2011 world championships held by the International Paralympic Committee in Christchurch, New Zealand, due to a lack of funds! She doesn’t want to miss the bus on the London games and hence gone nude for an aesthetically shot calendar showcasing her well toned body.
Professional photographer Takao Ochi shows Maya Nakanishi dressed naked in tastefully executed poses. You may recollect that when she was 21, Nakanishi lost her right leg after being struck by a steel beam in an accident. She was amputated below the knee and was fitted with a prosthetic limb. She finished fourth in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.
Since government support is limited towards Paralympics athletes, the money raised by her will go towards her trip to London and to buying a new prosthetic leg.
