Parents of bullied Pakistani student file criminal complaint

The parents of a 13 year old Pakistani junior high school student filed a criminal complaint with the police, alleging their son has been bullied by several classmates. Included in the complaint as well is charge of causing serious injury to the boy.

In a complaint filed with the prefectural police in Kagawa Prefecture, the parents said that since their son entered the school last April, he has been verbally and racially abused by classmates, with other students saying his skin was “dirty” and that he should “go back to his home country.” The parents also claim that he was physically bullied by classmates, citing an incident that happened in November when he was tripped in the hallway by one of the four classmates who was constantly bullying him. The boy sustained injuries to his legs and face and has had to use crutches since that time.

The father of the student says that they reported the incidents multiple times to the homeroom teacher and the school’s vice principal, but they did not take any action. The parents have requested the town’s board of education to investigate their son’s case and take measures to ensure the bullying will stop. However, the board has told the parents that there was no bullying taking place in the school.
