Ringo Starr & All Starr Band to tour Japan in 2013

The one and only Ring Starr, of The Beatles, and his touring group have announced a small selection of tour dates for early 2013, and among them are several stops in Japan. Australia and New Zealand are also scheduled on the tour, however the Australian dates have yet to be announced. Playing with his “All Starr Band,” which features members of other famous music groups, Ringo will be playing in the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

Having toured in the U.S. over the summer, Ringo says the shows were a blast and is looking forward to returning to the other side of the globe. The shows are said to be a two-hour long retrospective of Ringo’s career, performing his solo hits and those with The Beatles, including Don’t Come Easy, Photograph, Little Help From My Friends (this writer’s personal favorite), and Yellow Submarine, as well as selections from his most recent album, Ringo 2012.

Among the famous members of the All Starr Band include guitarist Steve Lukather (Toto); bassist Richard Page (Mr.Mister); multi-instrumentalist Todd Rundgren; saxophonist Mark Rivera (Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel); keyboardist Gregg Rolie (Santana, Journey); and drummer Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth). The February 2013 tour dates and venues are as follows, with the Australian dates to be announced on October 26th:

  • Thursday, February 7 – CBS Canterbury Arena, Christchurch, New Zealand
  • Saturday, February 9 – Vector Arena, Auckland, New Zealand
  • Monday, February 25 – Zepp Arena, Tokyo, Japan
  • Tuesday, February 26 – Zepp Arena, Tokyo, Japan
  • Wednesday, February 27 – Zepp Hall, Nagoya, Japan
  • Friday, March 1 – Zepp Hall, Osaka, Japan
