In another one of those, “What will they think of next?” inventions that the Japanese are fond of creating, Toto, Japan’s largest maker of toilets, has come up with the ultimate toilet for soccer fans. The thing is, you actually cannot use the toilet for its “natural” purposes. But it can be handy for those times when you want to frustrate the heck out of your soccer teammates.
The S.G.T.K or Super Great Toiler Keeper has no other purpose than to block shots to the goal by, as Toto claims, even the best football players in the world. Two high-speed cameras are placed on both sides of the goal. This camera captures, analyzes and predicts the final destination of the ball in under .01 seconds. It adjusts its position, then a spring releases a smaller ball out of the bowl that blocks the football. They say it can block shots as fast as 160 km/hr (about 100 mph.
If you still can’t appreciate it, or you think it’s lame, then you better watch this video, featuring former Blue Samurai Tatsuhiko “Dragon” Kubo.
The SGTK had the help of Creative Director & Engineer Hiroki Nakamura, the one who developed Toto’s previous crazy project, the toilet motorcyle. But again, for what purpose, nobody knows. Maybe it’s to showcase the amazing technology that goes with it. Or maybe, they want to start a trend of getting non-human goalkeepers to make football matches even more exciting. For 600K yen (about $7,500), you can own one of these bad boys. It will definitely make your own soccer matches more fun.
