Master musician Yoshiki revealed on his social network accounts that he is set to release an international album later this year. Albeit known for being a rock icon, Yoshiki’s album will feature classical music. Named Yoshiki Classical, the album will be out worldwide on September 24 with a digital release on August 27. It will include songs composed by the master musician. There will also be renditions of songs from his well-known rock band, X Japan.
Yoshiki Hayashi, or simply Yoshiki, is known for being the drummer of visual kei band X Japan. But the band leader, who also used to contribute in song compositions, was actually classically trained. Like a lot of Japanese rock musicians, especially those who embraced visual kei, Yoshiki learned classical music first. This time though, Yoshiki has collaborated with other accomplished musicians . Among those who contributed to the album is Sir George Martin, known for being a producer of The Beatles. As it is a classical album, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Quartet San Francisco, and the Tokyo City Philharmonic Symphony also played part.
It’s also been revealed that there will be a pre-release meet with Yoshiki. The day before the release of the new album, a performance and Q&A session will be held at the Grammy Museum. Among the songs included in the album are Amethyst, Forever Love, I’ll Be Your Love, Seize The Light, and the Golden Globe Awards theme. Besides a solo album, fans of Yoshiki and X Japan can expect more with a new world tour next year.
